Terms of Service

By opening an account you confirm that:

• You are at least 18, or are using the service with a guardian's consent.
• You are in Bangladesh and are buying or selling books within the country.
• The details you registered with are accurate, and you will keep them up to date.
• You will open only one account per phone number.

We are a marketplace and an escrow intermediary. The books are not ours; they are sold by users. Our job is to hold the money safely and help the transaction finish cleanly.

• What we do: Verify payments, hold money in escrow, track order status, resolve complaints, and release the seller's money less commission.
• What we do not do: Inspect books, package or transport them, or guarantee their quality.

• Keeping your password private is your responsibility, as is everything done from your account.
• Do not open an account under someone else's identity or with false details.
• Do not give away, rent or sell your account.
• Tell us immediately if you see anything unusual on your account.

4.1 What you must do

• The book must be yours, and yours to sell.
• Describe its condition honestly. Say so if there are marks, torn pages or water damage.
• Photos must be of that actual copy, not a cover image taken from the internet.
• Keep stock accurate, and take the listing down once the book is sold.

4.2 What you may not post

• Pirated, counterfeit or photocopied books.
• Books banned by law, or on the platform's banned list.
• Anything that is not a book.
• The same book posted repeatedly to flood search results.

A set number of listings each month are free. Beyond that limit a fee may apply for extra listings, and the current rate is always shown on the listing page. We may review and remove listings that break these rules.

• 1. Order: The buyer chooses a book and orders it. The total is the book price plus delivery.
• 2. Payment: The buyer sends the money to RecycleBookBD's bKash or Nagad number and submits the transaction ID.
• 3. Verification: We match the transaction and confirm the payment. Only then does the seller see the order.
• 4. Escrow: The money stays with us, and the seller has received nothing yet.

Once payment is submitted a buyer cannot cancel the order themselves. The whole escrow arrangement rests on that commitment: if a buyer could walk away after the seller had shipped, it is the seller who would be left out of pocket. If something goes wrong, raise a complaint and we will look at it.

Delivery cost depends on division: one rate when buyer and seller are in the same division, another when they are not. The total is shown before you order.

• The seller must ship within 7 days of the payment being verified.
• Any courier may be used. After shipping, the seller adds the courier's tracking link to the order.
• Both buyer and seller can see the link, and where the book is now is shown on the courier's own page.
• If no tracking is added within 5 days the seller is reminded. After 7 days the order is flagged and the buyer may ask for a refund.

Once the book is in hand, the buyer opens the order and confirms it arrived. That is the key that unlocks escrow: on confirmation the seller's share is released, less commission.

• Confirm as soon as you can after the book arrives. The seller is waiting to be paid.
• If there is a problem with the book, do not confirm. Raise a complaint instead.
• After confirming you can leave the seller a review.

• Commission: A set percentage of the book price is taken as platform commission on every completed sale. The current rate is shown plainly on the order and earnings pages.
• Delivery cost: Paid by the buyer, and spent on the courier.
• Listing fee: Nothing within the monthly free allowance. A fee may apply to listings beyond it.
• No hidden costs: What the buyer pays in total and what the seller receives are both shown before the order is placed.

If the book never arrives, the wrong book arrives, it arrives damaged, or it does not match the description, the buyer can raise a complaint from the order itself.

• While a complaint is open the money stays locked in escrow and neither side receives it.
• We decide by looking at both accounts, the messages, the photos and the tracking data.
• If we find for the buyer the money is refunded; if we find for the seller it is released.
• We give the reason along with the decision.

Complain in good faith. Repeated baseless complaints may lead to action against the account.

• Messages are tied to orders. You cannot message someone without one.
• Each user may send up to 100 messages in a conversation.
• Messages are deleted after 45 days.
• Abuse, threats, harassment and spam are forbidden. Report anything offensive.

Do not propose dealing directly, off the platform. Escrow does not protect a deal made outside it, we cannot act on a complaint about one, and making such an offer can cost you your account.

• Creating fake listings or fake orders.
• Claiming a payment with a false transaction ID.
• Buying your own books to inflate your rating.
• Attempting to access someone else's account or to break the site's security.
• Harvesting data from the site with automated scripts.
• Asking anyone for a PIN or an OTP in the name of RecycleBookBD.

If these terms are broken we may remove listings, suspend an account temporarily, or close it permanently. A suspended account cannot log in.

• Any running orders are settled first, so no buyer's money is left stranded.
• If you think a decision is wrong, you can appeal to us.
• You may also ask us to close your account at any time.

The books are secondhand and are described by the sellers themselves. As an intermediary we protect the money and settle disputes, but we do not handle and inspect each book.

• Courier delays or damage are the courier's responsibility. We help with the refund process.
• Our liability on any order will not exceed what the buyer paid for it.
• The site may be briefly unavailable for maintenance or because of a technical fault.

These terms may be updated as the service changes. Significant changes will be announced on the site and the date above will move. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms. These terms are governed by the laws of Bangladesh.
